The Most Important Relationship In Your Life Is With Yourself!
Hey all you beautiful people, near and dear to my heart!
It’s me, Hope and we’re going to talk about a topic that often gets swept under the rug because it’s a really tough subject for a lot of people.
Yet, it is so very important to master in an effort to lead a balanced and fulfilling life.
The topic?
Self – sabotage!
Yup…you read right!
Now some might question why a place meant to find hopeful topics everyday might be taking on the subject of self-sabotage and that’s a fair question…
Yet…let’s think about this logically.
If one of the self actualizing habits and daily intentions was to become more aware of your own self and possible sabotage…wouldn’t that lead to a more hopeful future and all around enhanced ability to live a full life?
I think we could all unanimously say…
YES!!!
After-all, “When you make peace with yourself, you make peace with the world.” – Maha Ghosananda
So what exactly is self-sabotage?
Let’s break this down a bit.
In the simplest manner possible, let’s first start with the word SABOTAGE.
What is the definition of sabotage?
One definition from Cambridge is, “ the act of intentionally preventing the success of a plan or action.”
Another definition from Macmillan is, “to stop something from continuing or developing.”
Now add the word SELF to that sabotage definition and we have the phrase SELF SABOTAGE…
Which literally means,
An act or process tending to hamper or hurt ourselves. Deliberately destroy, damage or obstruct ourselves. To deliberately stop our self from achieving something, or to deliberately prevent a plan, goal or intention or process from being successful in our life.
I like to view it as when a part of your personality acts in conflict with another part of your personality.
I like this because it gets to the core of what’s going on. It’s a conscious (what we say) versus subconscious (what we do) battle ground.
If you are not moving steadily in the direction of what you say you want, you can be certain that you are sabotaging yourself somewhere.
Which (by the way) the most important relationship in your life is with yourself!
So, as we come to understand the mechanisms and patterns that underlie self-sabotage, we begin to free ourselves…we begin to allow ourselves to interact with ourselves and the world with greater success, joy, and fulfillment.
The process of breaking through denial, facing your fear, anger, allowing yourself to be vulnerable and transparent regarding wounds of the past and other difficult emotions, and making peace with your pain, leads to an ending of the internal war with yourself so that you can step fully into the greatest expression and offering of yourself to both yourself and the WORLD!
Finding the wisdom inside the wounds you’ve endured is one of the most important conversations you’ll ever have with yourself, because on the other side of it is the emotional freedom and depth of joy that you were born to have.
Whew…that is a LOT?! Right!
Yet think about it!
Whatever form it takes – whether unhealthy behaviors or limiting unconscious thought patterns – self-sabotage always diminishes the passion and energy we need to fulfill our dreams.
At the heart of the matter, it is possible to create as much love, fulfillment, success and joy as we feel worthy of having.
In all of us, there are two parts that rarely have balance and are often split, causing us the most internal chaos…but when we turn our energy from an overall outward appearance (Ego) toward a caring happiness and love (Soul) we learn how to heal our wounds and not be so conditioned to fall into these patterns.
It is no easy task overcoming self sabotage and even harder still for many to recognize and admit they do this to themselves.
I know…I’ve done it to my own self…and still can from time to time!
This requires taking inventory of ones
• biggest life’s lessons
• breaking through toxic emotions.
• discovering unmet needs
• breaking the denial
• uncovering unconscious patterns
• feeling safe in the face of fear and vulnerability
• the destruction of hidden rage
• accepting that excuses keep one stuck
• the gifts of standing in ones power
• the state of surrender
• making peace with pain
• healing the split between ego and soul
By identifying how your inner saboteur is operating in your life, you can make radical progress toward what you want.
Make peace with your past and create radical shifts in the now.
When we have done our inner healing work and achieved personal mastery, we will no longer find ourselves creating self-sabotage over situations or circumstances we actually know we want to manifest!
At the end of the day, the journey is an inside journey to unity within.
We will begin to create an energy that only attracts like minded individuals and we will not tolerate anything less from ourselves or others because at the end of the day, the outer world is a direct mirror of our inner world. We may even encounter people we once could not share a journey with in some capacity only now, it’s possible due to higher, more aligned thinking.
The breadcrumbs of life from yourself or others just will no longer do because you have come to realize your fullest value!
If we don’t have peace within us, we can never hope to gain or have peace from the world around us!
